ELS-5000 high-speed side and wrap-around labeling system

At the request of our customer, we had to design a device that could handle the labeling of bottles with a conical outer surface and bottles with a flat, convex surface in one machine.

There are two separate conveyors in the middle of the device, one for labeling the continuous conical product, and the other, equipped with a screw separator, for handling convex bottles. Bottles of the same shape arriving at the same time are automatically placed in the corresponding middle lane at the end of the infeed conveyor. An important requirement for the operation of the machine was that production should not stop even when changing label rolls. Therefore, both intermediate lanes were equipped with two label applicators. While the active labeling head is doing its job, the new label can be inserted in the inactive unit. Since the equipment can label up to 300 products per minute, the use of double labeling heads is extremely cost-effective. We placed the label presence control module at the end of the conveyor. The installed KEYENCE camera proved to be a good choice because it stably detects the transparent label even at this extreme speed, on glass with different color refraction. Production cannot stop even during the removal of the unsuitable product, so we used compressed air reject.
